10 December 2025

In the classroom, this morning, December 10, 2025, for the first day of the school year, 150 students from the Carlo Porta professional institute in Milan.

The training course “Mi voglio sicurǝ” was held this morning at the Carlo Porta State Professional Institute for Food and Wine Services and Hotel Hospitality in Milan, which the Metropolitan City of Milan addresses to students in the fourth and fifth year of high school, to raise awareness among young people towards a new culture of mobility: safer, more aware and responsible.

The training program is part of the Milan Metropolitan Safety Project carried out by Safety21 in collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Milan, for the reduction of accidents and the achievement of the European strategic goal “2050 Zero victims on the roads” and is organized with the contribution of the Lorenzo Guarnieri Onlus Association, for over 10 years at the forefront in the prevention of road violence and with the support of expert trainers,  psychologists and Local Police. A well-tested format, this year in its third edition, which is based on an interactive training approach, which seeks confrontation with young people. There are several voices in the field, the only purpose: to educate future motorists on the importance of respecting the rules, and to develop and cultivate a civic feeling towards road safety.

During the morning, reflections, tests and testimonies alternated, to focus on the value of the rules of the highway code and above all the risks associated with distractions, the effects of alteration by alcohol and drugs in road traffic. The meeting saw the institutional intervention of Daniela Caputo, Councilor Delegate for Infrastructure and Metrotramways of the Metropolitan City of Milan, as well as contributions (by Giulia Tincani, trainer of La Fabbrica) / of the trainer of La Fabbrica, who addressed issues such as the role of the road in our lives and the perception of risk.

The students were also provided with practical elements of road safety by the Commander of the Local Police of the Metropolitan City of Milan, Pieralessandro Scotti, who illustrated the main safety rules and the risks associated with distraction and the effects of alcohol and drug alteration in road traffic.

In closing, the focus shifted to the theme of language and communication, highlighting the importance of a conscious and effective approach in transmitting messages.

According to Daniela Caputo, councilor delegated to Infrastructure and Metrotramways of the Metropolitan City: “Road fatalities are an unacceptable loss for the whole society. Working to increase road safety is one of our priorities, a goal that we are trying to achieve also through the awareness of the younger generations. There are thousands of students I have met over the years and I have always found great interest and active participation in these important issues. Making travel along the roads safer is possible, but we need a broad alliance that sees the protagonism of all the actors involved“.

The education of young people is the most effective and concrete tool we have to try to make a road mobility system safer, which, in Italy, has eight victims per year daysaid Stefano Guarnieri Founder of the Lorenzo Guarnieri Association – Our commitment and our hope is that this course can really contribute to developing a solid culture of safety in boys and girls: a heritage of awareness and respect that, we hope, will not only be useful when they are on the road, but that can accompany them in all the choices of their lives“.

Also for the current school year, moreover, the multi-year educational program “Mi voglio sicurǝ” provides, in addition to the in-person training event, the possibility for young people to join a PCTO (Path for Transversal Skills and Orientation) course that will issue students with 30 hours of training credits, deepening key topics such as the links between vehicles and infrastructures,  risk perception and preventive actions to reduce hazards on the roads. There are already 18 schools in the area that have joined the continuation of the online course.

A future without fatalities on the roads is possible. “Mi voglio sicurǝ” represents a concrete step towards this goal, promoting among young people a culture of responsibility and respect for the rules, fundamental values for safer and more sustainable mobility.
