More than 400 students were involved in the first two days of Mi Voglio SicurƏ to raise awareness among young people about responsible driving.

It started on Wednesday 24 January, with a first meeting at the Giosuè Carducci Classical High School, followed by a second appointment, on Thursday 25 January, at the I.I.S. Severi-Correnti institute in Milan, “Mi Voglio SicurƏ”, the training course on road safety aimed at young people, planned within the Milan Metropolitan Safety Project.

The training project, conceived by Safety21, was made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Metropolitan City of Milan, involving expert trainers from the Lorenzo Guarnieri Onlus Association, which has been active for over 10 years in the prevention of road violence, together with psychologists and psychotherapists specialized in the sector.

The training for young people is intended not only as road and legality education, but also as a reminder of virtuous behaviour on the road for the protection of human life, with the ambitious intent, for the 2023/2024 school year, of involving a potential of 1,000 students from different schools located in the territory of the Metropolitan City of Milan.

The educational approach is to empower young people through the testimony of how much conduct, as road users, can actually affect the safety of each person and of the community at the same time.

The ultimate goal? Promote and disseminate a culture of road safety among the younger generations and educate all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, on the importance of compliance with the rules, and to develop and cultivate a civic feeling towards road safety, with awareness of the risks associated with incorrect driving behaviour.

In particular, these first two meetings were attended by Stefano Guarnieri – Vice President of the Lorenzo Guarnieri Association, Pieralessandro Scotti – Head of the Local Police of the Metropolitan City, Maria Gabriella Anania – Psychologist Psychotherapist expert in Traffic Psychology and institutional representatives of the Metropolitan City of Milan and the institutes.

In the educational program, reflections, interactive tests and testimonials, to focus on the value of the rules of the Highway Code and above all the risks associated with distractions, the effects of alcohol and drug impairment in road traffic.
